Junior Application Technologist/Engineer - Stratford or Cambridge

Powerhouse Controls is a dynamic, North American organization that specializes in the integration of custom drives and automation solutions for industry. Powerhouse has locations in Stratford, ON, Cambridge, ON, Nashville TN, Evansville, IN and Atlanta, GA. We provide engineered solutions, design, service and sales of industrial electrical equipment with global exposure. We work with a wide variety of manufacturers products used for electrical drives and automation equipment, including but not limited to Siemens and Rockwell Automation / Allen Bradley.

Job Description Summary:

We require a resourceful, results driven individual who will be responsible for quotation and sales support of electrical panels and controls systems. The prospective applicant’s role will begin by assisting in the support of quotations by using existing tools. Eventually the applicant should be able to take on more complex quotations without much supervision.

Application Engineers at Powerhouse Controls are key leaders and mentors to their peers. They are passionate about solving technical challenges, have a sound understanding of customer applications and processes, and enjoy working in a dynamic industry. Application Engineers at Powerhouse Controls have the knowledge of both the technical and commercial aspects of our business.

Minimum qualifications for this position are as follows:

• College level certificate / University Diploma (field of engineering preferred but not mandatory)

• An excellent communicator both verbal and written in English

• Prepare and present technical and commercial proposals in Word and Excel

• A valid Canadian driver’s license

• Solid time management skills

• In-depth knowledge of successful sales techniques and negotiating skills

• A working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, and drives

• Established network of clients

Job Duties:

• Develop a thorough understanding of Powerhouse Controls products and services, existing and potential capabilities, plus benefits and advantages to the customer

• Be able to use existing tools to generate quotations.

  • Develop concepts with Powerhouse Controls resources, as required
  • Prepare and submit technical proposals and commercial offers
  • Interpret electrical schematics and PLC logic
  • Prepare labour and material cost sheets o Interact with suppliers to obtain major component costs
  • Review cost sheets, technical proposal and commercial offer as described in company procedure

• Assist in post order activities, as required

  • As sold cost worksheet and proposal submitted to order service
  • Lead the technical and commercial walk through during the project kick-off meeting
  • Change order quotations

• Develop and maintain relationships with supplier partners

• Complete any other duties required

Position location: Stratford or Cambridge, Ontario
